in-cosmetics Latin America celebrates rich innovation at 2018 event

in-cosmetics Latin America 2018 has come to a close and the show’s fifth edition proved to be the biggest and best yet with a record 4,844 visitors across both days of the show. This year’s event was a huge success with a wealth of innovation launched at São Paulo’s Expo Center Norte, proving it to be the ultimate beauty ingredient event in the region.

This year we welcomed an array of impressive new companies at the show. Over 20 exhibitors from around the world made their debut at in-cosmetics Latin America 2018 including HelioScreen, a French-based laboratory specialising in the in vitro evaluation of sun protection in cosmetic products, such as SPF and water-resistance. HelioScreen showcased 16 innovations including its HD-THERMASTER, which is to be used during in vitro sunscreen testing. Hailing from China, Huzhou Ouli Biotechnology Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of cosmetic additives and personal care materials, also showcased it’s latest amino-based acid, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate.

A highlight of the exhibition was the Fragrance Trail, which offered visitors the ultimate sensory experience. The debut initiative introduced visitors to premier fragrance houses, producers and distributors of raw materials and extracts, such as Sensient, Givaudan and Tovani. Formulation advice was available from the industry experts on hand and R&D teams were able to source the ideal olfactory components for new skincare and beauty products through a focus on regional differences in scent preferences.

The 2018 show also launched the Regulations and Testing Zone, which saw a selection of exhibitors, including Pharmilab, Interlab and Allergisa, showcase state-of-the art testing facilities and talk visitors through current and upcoming regulations. Furthermore, in-cosmetics Latin America was excited to host a range of product launches at the Innovation Zone, such as Chemyunion’s ThermoShield, a heat-protecting active that entraps water inside hair fibres and forms a protective coat; and Gattefossé’s Definicire™, a 100% natural active texturising agent that increases hair hydrophobicity, guaranteeing frizz and volume control, curl definition under high humidity and enhanced hair smoothness.

The hotly anticipated Innovation Zone Awards saw Givaudan win gold for its anti-ageing PrimalHyal Ultrafiller, while IFF – Lucas Meyer Cosmetics picked up the silver award for its Greyverse™, and RAHN AG took bronze for its SEBOCLEAR™-MP.

The Spotlight On Awards presented gold to Chemyunion for its Make Up Eraser, the silver award to ANGUS Chemical Company for its DMAMP™ ULTRA PC and IFF – Lucas Meyer Cosmetics won bronze for Greyverse™ – its second win. Lastly, Lubrizol won the coveted Innovation and Technology in Cosmetics, Toiletries and Fragrances (ITEHPEC) Innovation Award for its FENSEBIOME peptid, which was developed to reinforce vulnerable urban skin to help it face modern life.

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who was a part of this year’s event and hope to see you all again next year for yet more exciting innovations, fascinating seminars and more mind-blowing demonstrations.
