Paris-based ingredients specialist Sederma, part of the Croda International Group, is today celebrating scooping a special award for its Matrixyl® ingredient as part of the celebrations to mark in-cosmetics Europe’s 25th anniversary.
Voted for by show visitors and a panel of expert judges, the award recognises Matrixyl® as the ingredient that has had the greatest impact on the personal care ingredients market over the past quarter century.
Presented at a gala ceremony on the first day of the show, the anniversary award shortlist was comprised of the most ground-breaking ingredients to have been launched at in-cosmetics over the past 25 years.
Since its launch in 1990, in-cosmetics has continued to adapt to changes throughout the industry and offer visitors unrivalled access to the latest raw materials, testing services and extensive learning opportunities, as well as the most innovative ingredients available.
Matrixyl®, which Sederma launched in 2000, has a five amino-acid chain linked to a 16-carbon chain for improving the biodisponibility to the skin, making it a natural messenger that triggers collagen synthesis. To satisfy the increasing demand, Sederma launched Matrixyl® 3000 in 2003 based on two peptides: a palmitoyl tripeptide and a palmitoyl tetrapeptide and in 2012, a different palmitoyl tripeptide under the trade name Matrixyl® synthe’6®.
Matrixyl® is now globally recognised for its efficacy, with many cosmetics manufacturers featuring the ingredient on packaging as a result of high consumer awareness of the benefits the product can provide.
Collecting the award, former Technical Adviser to Sederma Dr. Karl Lintner said: “When we launched the ingredient, it was my dream for Matrixyl to become a household name and now it has. I am absolutely elated, that’s the only word I can use”.
Cathy Laporte, Exhibition Manager at in-cosmetics said: “I know the judges had a very tough decision to make in choosing the winner of our 25 year anniversary award and I would like to congratulate Sederma, who are deserving winners for Matrixyl®, an ingredient which is now used in thousands of skincare products around the world.”
“in-cosmetics has been the launch pad for many innovative ingredients and I’m certain we will continue to see launches at the show which shape the cosmetics industry.”
