Apple, pearl and green coconut have a rejuvenating function in cosmetics

These and other raw materials are among the new products that will be presented by exhibitors at in-cosmetics Latin America in 2016, on 5 and 6 October in São Paulo

São Paulo, July 2016 – No one disputes the importance of fruit and fresh and healthy foods for good health. However, the cosmetic industry is developing more and more raw material with qualities that nature has evolved to survive in harsh environments. The result is material with high resistance to UV rays, and cell regenerative capacity, important elements for anti-aging products.

The market already boasts, for example, a compound based on the stem cells of the Saponaria pumila, a rare flower, survivor of the Ice Age, in the Swiss Alps. Although it grows at low temperatures and at high UV radiation levels, the plant has developed unique adaptation strategies, such as regenerating mechanisms and protective components, and its extract is a unique raw material against solar radiation and premature aging. It improves the skin’s density, firmness and elasticity. The same company has also developed a product based on a kind of Swiss apple that stays fresh for up to four months after being harvested. Before the cosmetic discovery, the fruit was known as UttwilerSpätlauber. The stem cells of this apple’s seeds are rich in epigenic and metabolic factors, ensuring, when used in human skin, cell longevity while delaying hair follicle aging.

Another product that has attracted attention in this market is kinetin (adenine – N 6 furfuryl), an active ingredient with a strong growth factor that, along with other plant growth substances, promotes cell division and ensures plants’ orderly growth and development. The product is derived from a natural source – endosperm and green coconut juice. It is an effective active ingredient against skin aging caused by the sun, and a wrinkle reducer. In the study, kinetin delayed or prevented a whole range of cellular changes associated with the aging in vitro of human cells, including changes in cell morphology, growth rate, size, and cytoskeletal organization, among others. But the pearl extract of the enterprise – Field Pearl Extract (PWS) – enhances any skin moisturizer or whitener or solar or repair filter with a high-performance moisturizing and rejuvenating action that also protects against ultraviolet radiation.

All these products will be present at in-cosmetics Latin America, the only industry event focused solely on raw materials and educational content for Personal Care segment (Cosmetics, Toiletries and Perfumery) throughout Latin America, bringing together leading brands to exhibit new products and innovations.

Focus Química (booth C70) brings PhytoCellTec MalusDomestica (with an apple base) and PhytoCellTec nunatak (with the Swiss flower base), both Swiss Mibelle Biochemistry products, to the exhibition. Campo Kinetin and Campo Pearl Extract will be at the company’s own booth – Campo Research (F19).

In 2015, in-cosmetics brought together 184 exhibitors from over 40 countries and 2,760 unique visitors. Now, with the repositioning of the brand and a wider range of exhibitors and visitors from all over Latin America, Reed Exhibitions’ expectations are even higher. “We should be playing host to over 3000 professionals who will come into contact with about a thousand products from 200 exhibiting brands,” said Daniel Zanetti, event director.

in-cosmetics Latin America brings together manufacturers and distributors of raw materials and ingredients; system suppliers and software, as well as researchers and test developers for this sector on a global scale. According to a sample of the latest edition, 47% of exhibiting companies are from North and South America; 32% from Europe and 20% Asia.
