Of these, three will go on to be crowned gold, silver and bronze winners at a prestigious Awards Ceremony taking place on 2nd April at in-cosmetics Hamburg.

The finalists were selected by an expert panel of judges including Angela Eppler PhD, senior R&D scientist at Pfizer Consumer Healthcare and Dr Jianzhong Yang, PhD, president of Beauty & Health Innovation Co., Ltd., senior scientist at Belcorp, John Jiménez and President and Owner of Elysee Scientific Cosmetics, Linda R Marshall, and include:

Ashland Specialty Ingredients with N-DurHance™A-1000 polymer, the first truly durable solution for hair repair and conditioning. A new cationic polymer, the ingredient works through in situ controlled flocculation (ISCF) helping to restore hydrophobicity to hair and to maintain a conditioning benefit over the course of multiple wash cycles.

Gattefossé with CYTOBIOL™IRIS A², a synergistic blend of iris, vitamin A and zinc that has been clinically shown to reduce skin imperfections and minimise pores. Targeting skin blemishes, shine and dilated pores, CYTOBIOL™ IRIS A² purifies the skin in deep by limiting sebum production whilst preventing the formation of spots. It improves the overall appearance of the complexion by significantly decreasing the number of open pores and the shine of the skin.

Gattefossé with EMULIUM® MELLIFERA, a new generation of PEG-free emulsifier that auto-adapts to skin type and climate, creating emulsions that are white and luxurious in appearance. In cold and dry climates, they soothe and protect the skin from dehydration whilst in tropical conditions, they form an invisible shield which neutralises the greasy and heavy skin feel that results from high humidity. Tested in vivo on a panel comprising skin types from very dry to oily, 100% of women confirm a perfect match with their expectations.

Lipotec with ARGIRELOX™peptide, which is directed at reducing expression lines by modulating muscle contraction. The peptide offers two complementary mechanisms of action which have proven in vivo to enhance and prolong the anti-wrinkle effect obtained with Botulinum Toxin type-A injections, when applied between sessions, thus offering a longer-lasting anti-aging benefit.

Lubrizol with CHROMAPOL™ 5 Polymer, a new polymer technology that provides five key benefits to deliver rheology an sensory innovation in hair colour applications: innovative product forms such as clear gels or glossy creams with very pleasant aesthetics; hair colour formulations free from fatty  alcohols which maximises formulation flexibility while maintaining colour efficiency; cold processing and cost savings of 30% or more; no drop rheology allowing for better consumer experience; pleasing hair sensory, in particular when combined with  Merquat ™ conditioning systems.

Mibelle Biochemistry with Snow Algae Powder, a novel active, based on an extract of snow algae, to increase skin’s longevity. Studies confirm that Snow Algae Powder stimulates the longevity gene klotho and activates AMPK, a master switch in the cellular defence system. The klotho protein interferes with the insulin growth factor receptor signalling inducing a calorie restriction-mimetic effect. Calorie restriction is the only proven mechanism to prolong lifespan of organism.

Sederma with Sebuless™, a new multifunctional ingredient designed and demonstrated to mattify and equalise the skin tone of oily and acne-prone skin, in just one month. By using an unprecedented test method on normal human sebocytes as a more reliable and predictive model associated with cosmetogenomics, Sederma was able to confirm a positive action on every known process leading to oily skin and associated blemishes: hyperseborrhea, microbial proliferation, inflammation, hyperkeratinisation and hyperpigmentation.
